The idea that went through my mind when I first saw Sydney Sweeney, on screen in Euphoria, was, This girl is a celebrity. Soon afterwards, it was followed closely , Damn, her skin is extraordinary. However, according to her, it has not always been this way. She is dealt with cystic acne for most of her adolescence, and while she largely has it in check today thanks to a regular from her makeup artist and lotions (and a few key French drugstore goods ), she is always playing a balancing game to maintain her mix skin happy.

“I think that for skin care, it’s such a personalized journey,” states the 23-year old. “You can never compare yourself to anyone else.” For Sweeney, that journey has been heavy on exfoliation. “When I’m filming I tend to exfoliate more,” she says. “I’m wearing so much more makeup, especially on Euphoria. My skin does tend to’consume’ makeup, which is weird, so I exfoliate more and make sure I’m drinking more water.”

Though she moves hard about the exfoliation, she keeps her routine pretty low-key elsewhere so as not to irritate her super-sensitive skin. “I actually don’t get facials or anything,” she says. “Every time I go to facialist, I always felt that my face would break out more. I know they say it’s supposed to break out because they cleared your skin, but I feel like no one knows my skin better than I do.”

For instance, she has found that the goods her skin enjoys do not need to be expensive. “I love French pharmacy products; I filmed a movie in Montreal and was introduced to them, and they have helped my skin immensely,” she says. She is also a lover of American pharmacy staples like Nivea Creme in addition to Bic razors, which she partnered with. “They have such premium quality, they’re at such a great value, and they do such a great shave.”

Ahead of her new show The White Lotus premiering this July, I chatted with Sweeney and had her drop her skin-care routine. Read on for the sole moisturizer she has ever enjoyed, the item that saved her from acne scars, along with also the sunscreen she calls her saving grace.

My Body Care

I normally take showers in the morning, because my hair gets very oily. While my conditioner is sitting in my hair, I usually shave my legs with the Bic Soleil Click 3; it is this astonishing shave, and it’s user friendly. Some shavers actually freak out my skin–I don’t know why, but sometimes whatever they place round the shaver does it. Bic’s does not, and because I have such sensitive skin, I enjoy using those since I don’t have any rashes or any problems after I use it.

And then–this is a huge thing–I used to scrub my body and wash my head from the shower while products had been sitting in my own hair, but my body could still break out from the conditioner. And I learned that washing everything out of my hair , then washing my entire body with Nivea’s body scrub is your thing to do.

My Cleansers

In the shower, I wash my face with Avène cleansing gel. I love this one since I’ve found different cleansers are either too strong or not strong enough, but this one is fine and gentle. Sometimes I’ll blend in an exfoliator, just to help, since I do have combination skin. If I don’t exfoliate the dry skin off, then my makeup will probably sit weird in my face, and my face will break out–I get really bad cystic acne.   I utilize Caudalie‘s because it is not overly unpleasant; it only works perfectly.

My Serum

When I’m out of the shower, I use the SkinCeuticles H.A. Intensifier as my skin will get humid, so that it helps soak everything in. I use it every day and night.

My Moisturizer

Then I’ll use this French cream; it’s a lotion focus. What’s crazy is it’s really for dry skin to make it longer oily, so I did not think that it would work on me. However, my makeup artist used it on me about a year and a half before, and it is the only lotion that is suitable for my skin when I’m wearing makeup. Usually makeup will crack on my head, especially around my nose, and I could never figure out why, but it doesn’t occur for this one.

My Sunscreen

I use the Elta MD sunscreen on top. This sounds awful, but I used to use sunscreen because my skin is so sensitive, and sunscreens would usually break out me. I began using this over the past year and a half, and my face doesn’t split, so it has been my saving grace.

My Makeup Remover

I discovered that depending on where I am on earth and also the season, I have to modify my products because my skin will only be completely different. So right now, at night, I have a tendency to wash off my face with the Bioderma Sensibio Cleansing Water. I really like French drugstore products; I filmed a picture in Montreal and discovered themand they have helped my skin immensely.

My Night Creams

Depending on whether I’m sterile or not, I’ll wear Nivea face cream, or I’ll use Drunk Elephant. I also have a prescribed ointment out of my dermatologist which I’ll rub as well.

My Acne Secret

I had been a horrible picker [when my acne was bad], and my mom was always like,’Your face is going to get scarred!’ And now every day she is like,”I don’t know how you don’t have scars.” It’s since I would lather my head with Neosporin and aloevera, and it saved my skin.

My Roller

I have this ice roller that I got off of Amazon, that is the size of my head.   Daily actually while I’m in my car going to set, I’m just shifting my entire face with this particular ice hockey roller. It helps immensely.
