Peloton continues to expand its connected Fitness Lineup in spite of its ongoing financial woes . The company teased plans for its first rowing machine. It promised a combination of strength and cardio training. The company didn’t go into detail during its Homecoming 2022 event, but a sneak peek video (below) shows that it’s largely what you’d expect — a minimalist rower with a large screen to show classes and stats.
There was no mention of a price or release date for the rowing machine. Peloton has shown features of existing products. You can soon schedule workouts with friends through the app, Bike or Tread. Low-vision and blind users will be able to use the Google TalkBack screen reader to navigate the Tread interface. You’ll also be able to track your running, cycling and other workouts using the Peloton app. To be eligible for streaks and challenges, you don’t need to take part in a class.
The expansion comes just days after Peloton revealed a massive $751.1 million loss in its latest quarter, not to mention dropping revenue. Peloton has struggled to adapt to the pandemic recovery, as more people return to their offices and gyms. The combination of price reductions along with the Guide camera have not helped to improve things. Peloton clearly believes that rowing machines are a risky investment and will eventually pay off.
