An image shared on Facebook purports to show a tweet by the Cincinnati Bengals NFL team warning their fans not sell tickets to Las Vegas Raiders supporters.

Verdict: False

The screen grab has been fabricated. The tweet was confirmed by a spokesperson for the Bengals.

Fact Check:

The post, which has garnered over 4,900 reactions, shows a screen grab of an alleged tweet from the Bengals‘ official Twitter account that encourages their fans to not sell any tickets to Raiders fans for their next home game.

Our organization raised our prices because @Raiders fans bought most of our tickets. Our fans are asked not to sell [tickets], to Raiders fans. The supposed tweet states that there is already a shortage in tickets. The tweet also contains an image of the Bengals logo and the team’s “WhoDey ” slogan. There is no evidence to suggest that this tweet was posted by the Bengals. Such a message cannot be found on the Bengals’ official Twitter account. Nothing resembling it could be found on the team’s Facebook page or website either. The Raiders’ press release page and its official social media accounts likewise make no mention of the alleged tweet.

The tweet also appears to exceed Twitter’s 280-character limit, another indicator that it has been fabricated. The tweet was confirmed by Emily Parker, the Bengals’ director of communications.

The Bengals will be playing against the Raiders at Paul Brown Stadium on Jan. 15, according to CBS Sports, as part of the NFL’s 2022 “Super Wild Card Weekend.”
